MACBETH/REVOLT is the brainchild of American theatre artists JEFF MILLS (Chicago) JENNIFER KING and TANYA MARIE (San Francisco) dreamt into existence while working at the Teatro Lunaria in Genoa Italy in 2024.  The dream was to create an international company of performers that builds artistic and cultural bridges as a form of resistance to the nationalist and isolationist trends that seem to be sweeping Europe and America.  Inspired to work on Shakespeare's Macbeth, they invited acclaimed Italian troupe TEATRO PATALÒ from Rimini to co-create the first collaboration.  Renowned movement artist and clown JAMES DONLON (Ashland/San Francisco) joined the ensemble and the cast worked remotely to prepare for in-person rehearsals in the summer.

In August 2025 TEATRO PATALÒ will come to the Bay Area for a four-week residency, thanks to a generous grant from DePaul University in Chicago. The residency will include rehearsals, a performance of an existing piece, and a community workshop. In September the Italian Artists will travel to Chicago for a short residency with the Theatre School at DePaul.  Transportation for the artists is covered but we are currently raising money to cover accommodations for the month of August.

In December of 2025, the company will re-convene in Novafeltria, Italy for final rehearsals and the world premiere of MACBETH/REVOLT! at the Teatro Sociale di Novafeltria.  In 2026 the company plans to play in Verona, Prague, Hydra-Greece, Chicago and back in San Francisco.

Our goal, as always, is to create stunning and vital theatre, but also to create artistic bonds beyond our borders.  International politics are creating  such polarization and derision in our nation and we believe it's important for the world to see Americans as thoughtful, creative, empathetic and forward-thinking.  We also need Americans to create bonds with and humanize foreign visitors and practice xenia.  We believe theatre is an excellent medium to create mutual understanding.

We are raising $2700 to pay for four weeks of accommodation for the Artists.

Any amount will help! Donations of $75 or more will allow you to take an acting workshop with the Italian artists! Time and location TBD once we know how many participant we will have.
